We Built This City 1

Maker Team had a big year! With the help of some amazing parent and teacher volunteers, not to mention hard-working kids, we included over 40 students in three different groups—two in the elementary school and one in the middle school. They made everything from robots to stomp rockets to a Lego-scale city. Our student makers might think they are having fun, but they are also practicing being engineers and artists, mathematicians and crafters, planners and builders.

Maker Team has been a joy to be a part of, and I especially want to thank the teachers who gave their time, energy, and support to help make it happen: MJ in the middle school, and Chanel, Lauren, and Leah in the elementary school. We could not have done it without you!

Here’s an update from our Elementary Team bloggers, Rosemary Harper Richesin-Dodd and Maxwell Davis Stern:

Hello, guys. Wow, last blog edit. It’s gone by so fast. This year we have been working on a lot of things such as: A BIG Lego City with LED Lights and circuits (made by us). We have been blogging it all with you! And today we got our Maker Team shirts. It is really exciting to be finishing our Lego city. Today we will be watching a movie we made last year, in our Lego Movie Theater.

We use all sorts of materials, like:

  • Cardboard
  • Dried Noodles
  • Duck Tape
  • Circuits
  • Feathers
  • And of course
  • LEGOS!

We have enjoyed this year so much!

PEACE OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
